Dr. Rowa Attar

Dr. Rowa Attar is a consultant cardiologist whose work centres on seeing the heart clearly. She is a specialist in advanced cardiac imaging — the detailed echocardiography that shows exactly how a valve is leaking, how the heart muscle is coping, and whether a problem needs treating now or watching carefully. Patients come to her with a murmur someone heard, a valve that needs following, chest pain or palpitations that have not been explained, breathlessness that is getting worse, or a heart condition they are managing while planning a pregnancy. She reads the scan and explains what it means — in plain terms, including when the honest answer is that nothing needs doing yet. Her training spans three countries. After graduating in medicine from King Abdulaziz University, she completed internal medicine residency at the University of Toronto and adult cardiology residency at the University of British Columbia in Canada, then a fellowship in advanced cardiac imaging at the Houston Methodist DeBakey Heart & Vascular Center in Texas, covering Level III echocardiography, structural heart disease imaging and guiding valve procedures as they happen. She holds the Canadian Royal College fellowship (FRCPC) in Internal Medicine and American Board certification in both Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Diseases, along with National Board of Echocardiography certification. She has published on valve disease and cardiac imaging in international journals, leads the Interventional Imaging Group of the Saudi Arabian Cardiac Intervention Society, and teaches as Assistant Professor of Medicine at King Abdulaziz University. Dr. Rowa practises in Jeddah and speaks Arabic and English.
